Education is so important in the cannabis industry, especially because the stigma around high THC cannabis, a.k.a. “marijuana”, a plant known and celebrated for its therapeutic healing properties, has cast a fearful cloud over uneducated minds. What many people don’t know, is that there are serious benefits of full spectrum CBD usage–in all ages!

It is especially pertinent to have the proper knowledge concerning the CBD products that you’re consuming at home. Whether it be pain, anxiety, depression, insomnia, or any other number of reasons that you could be taking CBD, it’s important to know what type of CBD you’re taking and, most importantly, what it means.

Types of CBD

CBD Isolate is often referred to as “pure” CBD–but don’t let that word mystify you. CBD isolate is a powder substance, completely free of the naturally occurring flavonoids, cannabinoids, and terpenes from the original plant.

This form of CBD can be chemically altered into Delta-8 THC. If you remember, Delta-8’s legal “loophole” lies in the fact that Delta-8 THC is made from CBD, which is derived from hemp. Through a process known as isomerization, a series of steps (involving an advanced knowledge of organic chemistry and a detailed list of laboratory supplies) are carried out, thus converting CBD into Delta-8 THC.

Broad Spectrum CBD does not have any THC present in the final product. While the idea of a broad spectrum CBD suggests that original cannabinoids and natural terpenes are present, due to the extraction process that is required in order to remove the THC compound, natural flavonoids, cannabinoids, and terpenes are also at risk of being stripped. However, compared to a CBD isolate, the use of a broad spectrum CBD does suggest the better potential for seeing health benefits.

People generally seek out broad spectrum CBD products because of employment restrictions or in response to the general public’s taboo branding over THC and its effects. These people don’t know that, although our products are full spectrum, the Bluegrass Hemp Oil website can provide our customers with direct access to the lab testing information outlining the specific product that they have purchased. In the event that a loyal BHO customer is faced with a drug-screening at work, said customer has immediate access to the records that can prove the legality of their CBD usage. Not only does this feature on our website provide our customers with peace of mind, but we can further educate our customers on the specific ingredients within their very own bottle!

Full Spectrum CBD products should contain all the compounds from the original plant such as terpenes, other cannabinoids, and even flavonoids. However, the superiority of the products really depends upon the gentle care of a full spectrum extraction process. Simply put, at the end of the extraction process, all the same ingredients from the original plant should still present in the final product. Sadly, most companies utilize extraction processes that are damaging overall to the plant material and its natural compounds. Read more about our extraction method of choice here. Because full spectrum CBD doesn’t use nanotechnology to remove any additional terpenes, a small percentage of THC is also found in full spectrum products. Per the legal guidelines of full spectrum CBD, a product must contain no more than 0.3% THC–this amount of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is not enough for a user to experience the psychoactive effects associated with THC use.

A theory known as the entourage effect suggests that the influence of all these beneficial extracts from the original plant offer a wider range of potential results for those taking CBD. Depending on the ingredients within your product, you could be reaping extra benefits from the natural extracts you might not even know are present.

One of the other benefits of full spectrum CBD is the assurance in its natural cultivation and extraction–if a company is truly producing a full spectrum product, there will be no added substances or risk of chemicals. A truly safe product–like ours–will be third-party lab tested and will be able to prove those testing results to any customer should they ask for it.

Lots of research has been done proving the multiple benefits of full spectrum CBD: the suggestion that full spectrum products are more effective for pain and inflammation, the notion that full spectrum is better for those seeking anxiety relief, and the repeatedly proven study that recognizes the superior benefits of full spectrum CBD vs. CBD isolate.

Our Full Spectrum CBD

Better known as our Genesis Blend Hemp Extract, offered in flavored, original strengths or differing sizes in our extra strength blend, Bluegrass Hemp Oil has seen, firsthand, the benefits of full spectrum CBD. In fact, our founders, Bill and Adriane Polyniak, started cultivating their own CBD blend in order to meet the needs of their son, Colten. Since starting his journey with the Genesis Blend Hemp Extract that was designed for him, Colten has been seizure free for 2473 days and counting! Proven in its natural, golden color, our Genesis Blend Hemp Extracts are harvested from our Kentucky farm’s bloom-only cannabis sativa and converted through a gentle, hydrocarbon extraction process that safeguards all of the original ingredients. This full spectrum product allows users to see and feel the added benefits of the natural terpenes and cannabinoids present from the original sativa bloom. We believe in the benefits of our full spectrum CBD product because it has helped Colten. Find out more about Colten’s story here!

We choose to make our products with MCT coconut oil because of its benefits and shelf life. Not only that, but MCT oil contains healthy fats that add a flavorless boost to our cherished blend.

The main ingredient (as we all know) is CBD. A proven antipsychotic, bone-stimulant, anti epileptic, neuroprotective, analgesic, anti psoriatic, intestinal anti-prokinetic, anti-inflammatory, and immunosuppressive, this famous cannabinoid is widely celebrated for it’s therapeutic healing properties.

Other known cannabinoids found in our Kentucky farmed hemp contain several properties for bone structure repair such as CBG, CBDV, and CBC: which also has anti-inflammatory properties. No wonder so many of our loyal customers swear by our products for their pain relief!

CBDa, a central cannabinoid also found in our Calming Balm, has a wide scope of healing properties, known for having influence over mood and nausea as well as being a great combatant against minor skin conditions.

Myrcene, as well as limonene, are some of the most commonly found terpenes in the cannabis plant. Naturally present in our CBD oil, as well, myrcene promotes sleep and the reduction of muscle tension.

Caryophyllene, a terpene also known as beta-caryophyllene or BCP is found in a variety of herbs and spices; this well-studied terpene has both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and it has been suggested as a treatment for anxiety, depression, and addiction.

Pinene, a fragrant terpene associated with the pine tree smell, has been suggested to combat pain, inflammation, and anxiety.
